My kitchen patio garden update, the potatoes are almost ready to harvest!

We have a variety of fruit, veg and herbs growing in our kitchen garden.

Dustbin potatoes, thriving on the patio

Things are thriving in the FW kitchen pot garden.  It wasn't always that way though, due to an early attack from the 'things with no legs' and loss of so many of our seedlings I've had to resort to buying replacement salad vegetables and some annual herbs.

As a one man anti snug campaigner Himself has put so much table salt around it looks like ground frost in places!  Hopefully that will at least let the plugs get a good start.

One thing that has grown so prolifically nothing could munch it away are the dustbin potatoes.  They are thriving and we have batch one flowering now so, fingers crossed, we will have fresh new potatoes very soon.

I've planted the replacement salad leaves into flexi tubs, these are great, lightweight, strong and easily portable.  I poked holes in the base with a screwdriver for drainage.   I have placed it on top of an old empty pot in the hope that the height might deter all but the tri-athelete trained snugs.

My existing herbs (above right) and some replacements include, thyme, rosemary, sage, chives, lemon thyme, fennel, marjoram, tarragon, parsley, oregano and mint.  Not all shown here.

I was rather pleased to see a yellow raspberry 'All Gold' for sale at a reduced price.  This is reputedly the tastiest of the gold raspberries, is autumn fruiting and has been grown in pots successfully.  Watch this space.
