| Crispy cinnamon topped bread and butter pudding |
I had about half of a small fruit loaf that I'd bought reduced to £0.30p and although it was rather dry it was ok for toast. I stashed it in the freezer until Himself declared he wanted bread and butter pudding. I'm not going to the shop especially for the ingredients for this so rustled this up for a quick tasty pudding with some evaporated milk from the store cupboard.
I used:
- Half of a small, sliced fruited bread loaf
- 100ml skimmed milk made up from powder
- half tsp of orange food flavouring
- 1 tbsp runny honey
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (or some nutmeg if you're not a fan of cinnamon)
- 1 egg
- Cream, custard or evaporated milk to serve (or ice cream, why not?)
Method:
Pre-heat the oven to 200C
- Cut the bread slices in half to make two triangles from each slice
- Place into glass oven proof bowls
- Whisk the egg and add to the milk with the honey and orange flavouring
- Pour the milky mixture over the fruit bread slices and sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over the top to make a nice crust.
- Cook at 200C for 20 minutes or until the pudding is cooked through and a crispy crust has formed on the top.
- Enjoy!
